The tomb of a great warrior, sealed with an engraved magic puzzle rune. Its iron gates have stood for millennia, while the rest of the temple slowly eroded.

When Olek, a monster slayer – his mind as sharp as his blade – fell during a goblin horde siege, his his followers built this mausoleum to house his remains, and elite arsenal of weapons.

To enter his tomb, you must solve the puzzle sealing the doors. Seven orbs encircle a larger orb – each of the outer orbs glowing different colors, but one, which is only dull grey.

Next to each of the orbs is an engraving of a warrior fighting a specific monster, which seems to correspond to each individual stone coffin’s plaque engravings.

When the coffins are approached, a spirit will appear above them and ask a question about dragons, hydras, werewolves, risen skeletons, trolls or demons, depending on which engraving lies on the plaque. The seventh coffin representing goblins has been destroyed by the oceans waves, and thus it’s seal already broken; hence the gray orb.

You can either solve all the questions (with each correct answer a corresponding orb goes dull gray on the door), or attack and destroy all the guardian spirits; accomplishing the same task, but defiling the sacred place.

You arrive on the docks to the new lands. As you’re leaving however, your eye is caught by a massive metal bound crate that’s being lowered down by a crane to the docks below.

Four men on the docks are guiding it via ropes, while another two operate the crane from above. Two dwarven men standing on the docks are yelling at them to be careful. One’s wearing a leather hat with crocodile teeth stitched in, a large foreign looking rifle siting on his back. While the other, is wearing a robe and monocle.

All of a sudden the rope snaps and the crate plummets twenty feet to the ground, shattering the metal bindings on one side. Everyone is silent for several seconds before the crate begins to shake. The laborers back up slowly before a hulking man-beast bursts forth, yelling in a broken guttural common-giant dialect.

He attacks the crates of cargo in anger and anyone that gets close. During this time the creature yells in his hardly understandable language asking where his mate is. The dwarfs on the other hand are screaming for someone to subdue the creature but not to kill it, that they need it alive!

If you try and talk to the creature he’ll utter words about being ambushed by the dwarfs and other men while with his mate, before he was subdued and put in the crate, that the last thing he saw was his mate lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

If you try and talk with the dwarfs they’ll explain that this man-beast has a rare form of blood that can be used in potions to cure common but deadly diseases, however the blood must be fresh. Regrettably they must take him back to the capital city as a slave to be used for his blood for the rest of his days. The suffering of the many out weigh the suffering of this man-beast, or so they claim.

You come across two travelers by the roadside, one man is on the ground bed ridden, his face swollen with boils and his skin starting to blacken. The other claims he has been struck down with a strange disease and that they were on their way to see the man of the woods to get his help but the trek has been long and hard, and due to the sick mans condition they can go no further. If you go to the man of the woods home you’ll be attacked by vines as you try and approach. Apparently recently two men were caught trying to steal from him and he does not wish to see any further visitors!

If you make it inside his home he may be able to be reasoned with. He tells you that one of the men broke one of his jars while trying to get away with it, the jar itself containing a viscous poison that he’s been studying that’s been infecting the surrounding woods. He’s close to finding a cure, but why should he give it to you to save the man whom tried to rob him?

In truth the men did try and rob him, however it was for a good reason, or so they believe. Many in their village have been afflicted by the very poison that the druid has been studying and with no other hope they set out to see the man of the woods as they had heard tales of him having potions of magical healing. When he told them he could not help and did not as yet have a cure, the men simply did not believe him. They snuck in during the night, attempting to steal some of the jars but ended up breaking one containing the very poison they were seeking to cure!

The area was trapped, rigged with both magical and mechanical defences. We did this because Yaeverna and I became great. As keepers of the Winged Blade, we were sick of running, sick of living in fear. So we made our home in the sky.

We found the flying citadel wholly by chance. It was difficult to enter, and that was when we realised the abandoned city could be our perfect home.

Life was breathed back into it. We cleaned the tavern, stocked it from trips to the outside world, on our griffons. We cooked in the old kitchen, turned the small library into an office, and stored what magical artefacts we found across different rooms.

There was a larger library, where we prayed to our god, and hoarded the many other volumes we discovered throughout the world.

It was our home for nigh 20 years. You were born there, some time after grandfather died, peacefully. He would have loved to meet you.

Why did we leave? Well, we fled. You see, daughter—THEY found us. Asmodeus’s followers. We destroyed what we could, but were lucky to escape with our lives. They came, with their hellhounds, and abominations, and ransacked the place.

Rumour has it they’re still there today. We were fools to leave such artefacts lying about, believing they would be secure. We may have to destroy the Winged Blade. We can’t run forever. I see now the world isn’t safe so long as it exists. And neither are you.

Has the time come to disguise our past, and start again?

When entering the market you pass over the docks and the crashing waves then continue past a small guards office that keeps an eye out for troublemakers and a statue stands over a small fountain, a bowl in it’s hands, coins have been thrown into the fountains waters, presumable because it’s a wishing well of sorts.

The market is coated in warm light from the slowly burning braziers affixed to the stone walls, the smoke drifting up through chimneys carved into the ceilings. Laughter and the playing of small children can be heard within the market above the haggling of their parents with the stall clerks.

Crates and barrels line the walls and colorful fabrics hang above the stalls trying to gain the attention of passersby. Just off the central market sits a small tavern and a storage room that leads deeper underground.

Passing through the weary and gnarled woodlands, you finally arrive at the temple you have sought, bones and ghastly remains litter the forest floor, increasing in volume as you approach the front gates.

Many stone statues stand watching as the wall mounted torches flicker, igniting the room in a bloody glow. The cultists have outfitted or restored this old temple with living quarters, barracks, sleeping quarters, a library, as well as a cell for prisoners waiting to be sacrificed.

A small set of stairs, barred by a portcullis marks the entrance to the old servants quarters, now made a ramshackle kitchen and storehouse. Although the cultists are unaware the storehouse holds a secret stairwell that allows direct access to the main chamber.

The lower temple consists of sepulcher, marking the graves of long dead elven warriors. Once upon a time this woodland was verdant and beautiful, but no longer. Stairs lead up from the sepulcher, through a basement storeroom full of old wines and ales, then into the main chamber.

A trail of blood leads up the staircase and surrounding a raised platform stands three more statues, holding bowls filled with blood…

This is, of course, after my forces burnt his home to the ground, and he escaped. But, I’m a gambling man. You amuse me. So, tell you what. Let’s make another deal. If you get me the blade, I’ll let you live out the rest of your mortal life, with your son.

Neither of you will see the invasion in your lifetimes. You can live well, and get to know him. And when he grows old, and has children, and your life flickers from one world to the next, then – perhaps – the mortal plane will be destroyed…
