Deep within this dense forest lies the resting place of a titan, you can hear the trickling of the nearby stream and birds chirping in the distance as a faint breeze disseminates the scent of wildflowers and damp earth.
Nature long ago enveloped this long dead being in an eternal embrace. The bones of itâs gigantic legs have fallen across a small stream acting as bridges, while itâs ribs jut from the earth leading up to itâs massive hollowed skull.

When the ship you bought passage on is wrecked in a terrible storm, your party washes ashore on an uncharted island. Around you towers the ruins of an ancient fortress, long overgrown with flowers and vines. Very little remains of its original inhabitants. The bones of a large dragon lie forgotten below the ruins, also overgrown.
Hiking up the steep pathways you find the bones of a man, covered in the tattered remnants of an oiled coat. Beneath that is a leather bound journal, covered with the same material but in much better condition.
While reading the journal you find brief notes of experiments on plants, made by a royal botanist. They detail his desperate attempts to change a yellow flowered plant into a weapon, in order to save his people from invading forces. While reading, you can hear the gentle rustling of animals in the brush around you.
You discover that many of his experiments failed, and learn how disheartened and desperate the botanist became. Eventually, however, one of his experiments succeeded. You read how it performs better than he ever dreamed, then his horror as it infects one of his assistants, then a member of the castle staff, then others.
The botanist fled when he discovered his creation could not be stopped. You learn that this isnât the main castle at which he worked, but an outpost he was visiting on his attempt to seek passage off the island.
The last entry states âI have doomed us all, far worse than our enemy ever could. I wish everyone I knew was dead. But theyâre not. They follow me, I can hear their voices, their growls as their vocal cords begin to rot and fall away in shreds. Still they pursue me. I am beginning to realize I could never escape. This is my penance for the doom I have brought upon my people.â
As you finish reading, the gentle rustling grows louder as rotting animals and humanoids covered in yellow flowers burst from the underbrush. At the tallest tower of the ruins waits their sourceâa huge sprawl of leafy vines and broad yellow blossomsâŚ
Whatâs happening? Long ago a botanist created this plant as a weapon of war, but instead doomed all the inhabitants of the island to death. The plant is known to charm those who come near, calling them close enough so that it can drill tendrils into their brains and kill them.
Itâs victims then rise, animated by the spores of the new plant that now grows within them; protecting the original plant while they can, then wondering afar to spread the spores when they finally collapse and decompose.

Half a dozen children have gone missing from their homes over the last few months and one distraught mother has begged you to investigate. The disappearances have been worsening and they believe something needs to be done about itâno one else in the village will search for the children and the guards havenât been able to find anything.
She suspects a cult is behind it, but you need to be discrete when you look into it. Most of the villagers are too scared to speak about it and if any of the zealots get word that youâre asking questions you might be ambushed and taken yourself.
Whatâs happening? Foreigners arrived in this village a little over a year ago and began preaching their strange religion on the streets. No-one thought anything of it then, but now the religion has spread and the increasing disappearances of children are just the beginning.
The children, however, are actually choosing to convert to the religion, following the priests down into the sewers where they are treated well and given more food than they could dream of (covertly supplied by the townâs Innkeeper).
However, something more insidious is happening. Once down there, the children are not permitted to leave and while theyâre being treated well the priest intends to use them as vessels for a demonic ritual practiced by his religion.

The patrons of this bar are making a toast as you walk in. Suddenly a very confused looking ogre appears, whilst a patron next to it disintegrates into a pile of coins. Pigs roasting on spits begin speaking and bolts of lightning strike out towards the stone ceiling.
Small, strange creatures appear, wailing in fear and scurrying under seats, before vanishing again. A table sprouts human legs, shaking off platters of food and drink before walking up the stairs, out of the bar.
A woman grows a beard so large and magnificent it puts her husbandâs to shame, whilst a dwarf is transformed into a grinning succubus (who subsequently embraces his companion in a passionate kiss). Some patrons go blue or pink and a group of children start levitating. Elsewhere, puffs of flame emerge from a small, pink dragon testing its breath.
The ogre, now having a tantrum, begins to smash furniture and patrons with its fists. The guests begin screaming and press their way out of the bar in panic whilst a still-sober bartender freaks out.
Noticing your party, the bartender begs you to do something to stop the ogre before his establishment is completely destroyed and his livelihood is lost. Heâll give you anything he has left thatâs of value!
Whatâs happening? The owner of the bar bought the wrong, discounted crate of drinks. Thinking he was buying some strange intoxicants âunder the counterâ he was instead sold bottles of chaotic magical energy that were stolen en-route to the townâs local wizard.
The wizard has been looking for his missing delivery for the last two days.
Now all of its patrons have been affected by magical flux, but the effects should wear off within an hour. Mostly.

Your party is enjoying the sumptuous celebrations in a village renowned for its annual prosperity festival. Every year as a comet blazes across the sky its people celebrate with fried sweets, roasted meat, and copious quantities of white wine before releasing red sky lanterns.
Except this year, as the lanterns are being released, the comet begins to slip from the sky. As the inhabitants of the village begin to scream and panic, the night lights up in a white flash with a loud bang that reverberates in your ears. The comet fragments as it falls, the smaller blazing rocks shaking the earth as they collide.
Eventually the main body of the comet crashes into a nearby forest, pushing trees to the ground and shattering them as it sails low overhead. Many people are thrown off their feet by the impact and watch as a large, fiery being rises above the forest, roaring horrifically in a guttural tongue, before shrinking back beneath the treeline.
Whatâs happening? Long ago a fire elemental named Arcarix raged through the land, turning it into a burning waste. Only a wizard named Astraphalageous, after losing his wife and children to the calamity, stopped Arcarix before it was too late. He sacrificed his life to imprison the elemental within a fallen comet of skymetal, before sending it up far away; where it should never have touched the land again.
Astraphalageusâs Sacrifice is what the comet became called and is the real reason it was seen as a symbol of prosperity, for it returned hope to the land. However, as time flowed ever onward his sacrifice was forgotten, alongside the true story behind the comet.
Now, hundreds of years later the magic that once bound it has finally unraveled; causing the comet to fall and collide with the land. Arcarix, partially released from his prison, rose above the forest announcing his joy at finally being free in the fire elemental tongue.
Despite his initial hope, Arcarix hasnât fully escaped his prison. It only cracked during its collision, allowing him to emerge from the comet, but not escape it. The little fires that broke off from him during the collision have become small fire elementals, beginning to foray out into the forest.
When you arrive the distressed Arcarix is cursing at being partially-imprisoned, whilst tearing chunks of rock away. If you understand and speak to him, he might explain how his active volcano was destroyed by a wizard and how, when he tried to find a new home, that man came after him, locking him away in the darkness where he could barely sustain his flame. Now he just wants to go back to his volcano, unaware of the damage he caused.
With a successful perception check, you can see glowing red runes of sealing inscribed on the meteorite, though they are partially damaged.
If approached by armed adventurers (or anyone who looks like a wizard), Arcarix will lash out and fight to the death.

Twelve years ago was the first time in over one hundred years that the forest changed to a wonderland full of color and mystery. This has continued now, once every four years during the great day of leaps. However It is forbidden on this day to travel the forest, many even hide in their houses and claim the forests changes bring ill omen upon their village.
For you see over the twelve years these occasions have proceeded horrible ills befallen the village, starting with the disappearance of some children and concluding in the spread of a deadly disease and then a famine four years later.
The same has began again but to a terrifying degree, at the dawn of the great day of leaps, half the parents of the town awoke to empty children’s cots. They beg you to travel into the forest to find their children.
Whatâs going on? Over one hundred years ago an ancient fey gate would open in the nearby forest during the day of great leaps, changing the landscape to a colorful wonderland. The fey of the forest would then travel to the nearby village to enjoy their delights disguised as foreign humans. However during a horrible storm the gate was broken and so the fey stopped coming. It was only twelve years ago when a druid repaired this old gateway that the forest began to change again and with that the fey returned.
If you head into the heart of the forest and find this location, the fey will try and deceive you to have you leave but if you persist will end their disguises and explain to you what is going on. Apparently the leader of these fey is a seer and had foresaw both the disease and the famine that would follow, he instructed his followers to save whatever fey blooded children descendants they could before these occurred and so they did. Unfortunately only children of a certain age are able to accompany them back to the fey-wilds wherein their fey blood will transform them over the years into fey like their ancestors.
However this time when the fey returned the seer foresaw an imminent raid on the village that will occur shortly and thus they have taken all the remaining fey blooded children of the village before theyâre slaughtered.
The fey refuse to give back the children and if forced to will fight you. However if you choose to fight the fey you wonât have time to return to the village and save the people from the imminent raid.

Rumors have been spreading of an illegal fighting ring somewhere within the city, however after extensive searching the best the cities guards have come up with is that the location lies somewhere within the slums. They need someone unknown to infiltrate this fighting ring and disclose itâs location to them so they can shut it down, saving lives.
You manage to uncover the fact that the fighting ring changes locations frequently to many abandoned buildings around the city and obtain the current location from a shady peasant. However upon arrive at the location the building is empty and youâre ambushed soon after and knocked unconscious.
You awake within the real arena with crowds of people cheering from the stands. A large man standing above you on a platform explains that heâs taken men and women from the streets who had nothing and gave them at chance at earning wealth and glory. Heâs forced no one to fight who didnât want to and you and your puppet masters want to take away their freedom to choose for themselves.
He tells you he likes you, that youâre a fighter and he wants to see you fight tonight for the crowd, if you do heâll let you go and thatâll be that. However he warns you that the fights wonât stop until his body is dead and cold, no matter what you tell the puppet masters, by the time they come to clear this place out everyone will be gone.

Some months ago the Lightbringer went suddenly missing, the holy fleets finest ship and the vessel carrying the holy books of the god of light. It was assumed that the waves had claimed these holy relics and all hope was lost. However a rumor has spread over the last week that the ships remains have been sighted off the coast of a small fishing village and so youâve been asked to investigate and recover the holy books if possible.
If you ask around in the village you can find the fisherman who sighted the vessel, and if pushed heâll confirm that the ship does in fact lie grounded on the coast but claims that when he got closer he saw strange shadows dwelling within and that the ship is cursed. He begs you to avoid the vessel claiming that if intruded upon not only will you suffer the curse but him as well for telling you itâs location.
Months ago It was during a stormy night the Lightbringer saw itâs end, itâs masts broken and thrown into the sea the ship barely made it through the night. Over the coming weeks the crew began to starve and once noble men turned on each other. The captain was killed trying to protect one of the weaker shipmates and both he and the shipmate became food to the others soon after. After another month the ship finally ran a ground but not before the former crew had âdiedâ and risen as monsters for their sins.
Hidden within the remains of the lower deck are group of ghouls along with the holy tomes that rest in the captainâs quarters. The ghouls avoid this area at all costs as it causes them pain to be within several meters of the relics.
